There is a process called a shell fit that we can do to see how long they are on your foot。

Process steps:
Step 1. You will want to wear a sock that is about as thick as you would wear snowboarding. You need to take the liner of the boot out of the boot.

Step 2. Put your foot with the sock on it in the empty shell of the boot. When you put it in, there will be a TON of room around your foot because the liner will be missing.

Step 3. Kick your foot all the way back, so your heel is touching the heel of the boot. Then stand up and slide your toes all the way to the end, so that they are barely touching the end.

Step 5. Once you have done that, try to measure with fingers how many closed finger spaces fit between the heel of your boot and the heel of your foot. So your hand would be sideways in the boot, with a few fingers closed together to see how many fit width wise from the heel of your foot to the heel of your boot. Your palm should not be facing your foot nor the heel of the boot, but the palm should be facing the left or right side of the boot (depending on which hand you are using)

Answer.
1 Finger Space: This is going to fit pretty snug out of the box. Even after the boot breaks in, the boot will still be super supportive. This may not be preferred for those of you who only get out a couple times a season.

2 Finger Spaces: Comfort fit. Like any boot, it will fit snug out of the box, but after it breaks in you will notice it is not nearly as snug as it was previously.

Anything more than 2 Finger Spaces is too big.

How to choose snowboard boots:
If you want a snug fitting high performance boot (1 finger space) you should probably go down 1 whole size. If you want 2 finger spaces you could keep the same size or go down 1 half size.

Companies like Burton have developed a 1 to 1 liner. What this means is that the liner is the same size as the shell of the boot. Many companies will skip out on ½ sizes to save money. In a Burton boot the Liner and Shell are the same size and the pack out is very minimal as there isn’t a whole extra ½ size to the shell to stretch the liner out over time.

Generally you want the boot to fit snug overall because you must consider BREAK IN. Depending on the type of boot and liner, the boot will break in considerably.
"If the boot were a little bit bigger, it would fit perfectly." That's what you want to think when you're in the shop trying on boots. Almost all boots will have a built in forward lean. Boots are not designed to fit correctly as you're standing straight up.
Initially, you want your toes to be right at the end of the boot. You don't want them curled or jammed at the end.
As you flex into the boot your heel will slide all the way into the heel pocket bringing your toes slightly back from the end.
This is the type of fit you should look for. You also want to make sure you have good support in your heel. Make sure the boot is nice and snug around your ankles now, so when the boot breaks in you don't get heel lift.
